Meet Bell Middle School, our community middle school. Bell celebrated many successes in 2013-14 including the success of their inaugural 6th grade class, students going to the National Competition for PTA Reflections, a student going to the State Competition for the Geography Bee, and the iSTEM “Goldie’s” Movie Awards awarded by Mayor Sloan. And the excitement continues again this year. Thanks to a joint effort with the City of Golden and the Skyhawks, Bell will offer the Middle School Sports Program (MSSP) which is a co-Ed after school sports program. Sports include: Cross Country, Flag Football, Cheerleading and Volleyball. For more information:
In addition to launching the 6th Grade iSTEM program this year, the 8th Grade iSTEM students are working on a project that will be headed to the International Space Station for testing. Students will be working with CASIS to design, build and develop an experiment that will study vermicomposting. The scheduled launch is in April ’15 on a Space X rocket. The experiment will be contained in a Nanoracks Nanolab and will run for 30 days in microgravity. Click here to follow the students’ progress on the project.
And the entire school is competing against other schools in the district in the Energy Education Challenge in an effort to win $5,000. The program is designed to encourage students and staff to save money by saving energy.
There are so many exciting things happening at Bell this year. From Mr. Swift’s Bike Club, to Ms. Atzmiller and Ms. Ranney’s Girls in Science program to one of the most comprehensive Arts programs around that includes Choir, Band, Orchestra and Theatre. Bell is worth another look. Get to know Bell Middle School, home of the Bobcats!
