Letter to the Golden community from Pleasant View Principal

Dear Pleasant View and Golden Community Members,

Welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year!  We are looking forward to serving your child as a member of the Pleasant View Elementary School community.  I am thrilled to remind all of you that Pleasant View Elementary School is open!  Many of you know this, have already registered your child for the 2016-2017 school year and are excited that your child can continue their elementary school career at our outstanding learning institution!  Some of you have not yet registered, have thought about taking your child to a different school, and have even chosen to attend a different school this year.  I am sending this letter as a reminder of the tremendous opportunities afforded your child, while attending Pleasant View.

Pleasant View Elementary has a long standing tradition of providing highly qualified and effective teachers and staff members, in every classroom.  Because the Pleasant View community is engaged in our work, our staff is excited to return to work to serve the community of learners and family members that we feel grateful to know personally, and care about deeply.  We pride ourselves on our ability to personally know each and every student, and their family members, as we develop relationships during home visits, parent interviews and Academic Parent Teacher Team meetings.  We know that working collaboratively with family members ensures student success and builds the foundations that children need to become engaged and productive citizens in our 21st Century world.

Our school offers students a unique and individualized learning environment.  Throughout the school day students are engaged in group and individual learning tasks that require use of critical thinking skills, often through the use of 1:1 technology devices such as iPads, Chrome Books and laptops.  Our pre-school program provides high-quality instruction in a safe and age-appropriate manner to children ages 3 and 4.  Our Kinder Readiness program provides additional support for students with basic literacy and self-regulation skills while our Project-Based Learning classes offer students guidance and encouragement as they pursue passion areas and enables them to address needs or projects within our school and/or the community at large.  Involvement in our Service-Based Learning  class work reinforces the importance of understanding our impact in the local community and world.  Participation in our free before and after school enrichment programs exposes children to opportunities and career paths, such as Robotics, Culinary Arts, STEM, and sports programs.

Pleasant View also boasts a strong commitment to parent involvement! We have an active Parent Teacher Student Association ( PTSA) and Accountability committee, participate in the WatchDog DADs partnership, created and facilitate our district recognized Parent-Academy program, and work diligently to ensure that our school is a welcoming and inviting environment where all families students feel respected and valued.

Choosing a school for your child is an important decision- I know- I’m a mom of 3 students that attend a Jeffco school.  I encourage you to think about all that Pleasant View can offer your child. If you have not already registered your child at Pleasant View for this school year, please do so this week so that we can be ready for your child when school starts on Thursday, August 18th.
